about

Sometimes things come together and you have a song you are happy with.

Clearly I am a huge fan of Rush and Black Cab. So this track was originally going to be entitled "Tom Sawyer and the Decathlon"

But then I stumbled across some Olympic games video about the 1956 Melbourne games and the narration was just TOO GOOD not to include. the original work is a wonderful look at masculinity, physical perfection and the threat of the cold war environment. Very relevant to today.

The original film video is here:

As an amateur musician I am currently seeking understanding of the copyright status of the narration.

This was written in a single session on the Australia day weekend. Perfect time to reflect. Bird sounds are from Jeparit town where Sir Robert Menzies was born, and he would have been Australian Prime Minister at the time of the 1956 Games.
